Trek Nepal - Trekking to Everest Base Camp
The Everest, 8848 meters is the highest mountain on earth and rises imposingly on the Tibetan plateau on the border between Nepal and Tibet in the Himalayas.
This trek takes us to the heart of the mountains and the culture of the Everest region, allowing us also admire other equally impressive mountains such as Ama Dablam, Thamserkhu, Nuptse and Lhotse.
The journey begins in Kathmandu, Nepal's capital, a city worth spending time to explore its attractions and discover its temples, its streets, its people and its historical legacy. From Kathmandu fly to Lukla on a plane for placement in the great Khumbu Valley, gateway to the Everest region. The first flight offers stunning views of the snowy peaks of the Himalayas.
Once the Lukla, start our route, with an average altitude of 3,000 m, goes through the valley dominated by the impressive monataƱas. From Lukla to Phakding where we will spend the first night in one of the many lodges (mountain hotels with small rooms where you sleep with sleeping bag and have shared bathrooms).
The next day we will find the entrance to the Sagarmatha National Park and head towards the town of Namche Bazaar (3440 m), shopping center Khumbu Valley. Overnight in Namche Bazaar, which will help us a favorable acclimation. In Namche there are several stores selling mountain and trekking as well as places with internet connection via satellite. Its streets are steep and uneven and often filled with snow well into spring. The atmosphere we breathe is mountaineer. Here you usually spend an extra day to promote acclimatization.
The next day depart early for our next target: Tyangboche or Tengboche (3867 m). We leave civilization behind to continue only surrounded by mountains, rivers and air. Our first glimpses of the stunning Ama Dablam and Everest. At the end of the day and after a long and steep climb to reach Tyangboche Buddhist monastery. The temple was built on top of a cliff, surrounded by pines, rhododendrons, azaleas, and many flowers, under the shadows of some of the most imposing mountains in the world: Tramsercu, Ama Dablam, nups, Lhotse and Everest. It's a magical atmosphere that invites peace and meditation. If monks can allow entry into the monastery to see the Great Buddha it houses. In the lodge feeling cold Tyangboche is notable because it is very unprotected from the wind.
The next day we continue to Dingboche on a path that enters the world of high mountains where vegetation gradually disappears and gives way to the ice, snow and big mountains. In Dingboche to about 4,400 meters at the foot of Ama Dablam is often over one extra day to promote acclimatization.
The next day the route leads to Lobuche to 4930 meters altitude. Ascend the valley to Dingboche Duglas, where you start climbing a hill to reach the mouth end of the Khumbu glacier, from the Everest. Our goal today is to reach the village of Lobuche. Here the height is evident and most people begin to feel its effects. In many of the lodges is the typical sign that says "Do not die in the mountain" and warns of the dangers of altitude sickness and the grave consequences of not treating with the respect they deserve.
From Lobuche we are left with the ascent to Gorakshep and the summit of Kala Pattar than 5580 meters is the best natural view of Everest and peaks and glaciers that surround it. Here you can enjoy the breathtaking view of Pumori (7.161m), Khumbutse (6.640m), Lhotse (8.501m), Everest (8.872m) and other, forming a majestic snowy horizon. Coming down from Kala Pattar sleep in the lodge of Gorakshep. This will be one of the worst nights since the height will be felt as never before.
The next day, if we can either ascend to Everest Base Camp to enjoy the special atmosphere in this place, full of mountaineers from different corners of the planet and they crave that precious photo at the top.
During the tour can admire breathtaking landscapes, you can visit ancient monasteries, enjoy the culture and hospitality of the Sherpa people, and learn about the Buddhist religion. The colorful prayer flags accompany the traveler as he travels the paths of the region.
