New Moon Book Review
Part of my New Year's resolutions is to read many books, and an unofficial aspect of this objective is to read a few lines that normally do not read. Besides Harry Potter, I have not read the young adult (YA) novels because I was a young adult. A few weeks ago, I read and reviewed a book called "Twilight," which was the first book of the Twilight Saga written by Stephenie Meyer. Over the past 6 days, I read the second in that series, "New Moon", so here I am once again review.
In the first book in the Twilight saga, Bella falls in love with a vampire named Edward. In this second book, Edward is taken out of context and Bella suffers greatly for the loss of his true love. He makes friends with Jacob, who turns out to be another kind of mythical creature. Bella uses this new friendship to recover his loss, even if Jacob and his friends soon turns out to be different from what they seem.
I think this novel is enjoyable for fans of mythical legends and fans of young adult (YA) novels with fantasy elements. Meyer manages to give fantasy a very real way, so even if you're not a fan of the vampire / werewolf myths, probably still like this.
For me, the novel has its ups and downs. I loved the second half of the novel. This is when the action really begins, when all secrets are revealed when the main conflict and Bella rises.
At the same time, I do not particularly like the first half of the novel. For 250 pages, Bella complains about everything in his chest, the pain of losing his true love. It took me about 4 days to read the first half of the novel, and a little 'more than 1 day to read the second half.
Although in general, I found the book to be average at best, continue to the third Twilight saga. Although I am generally disappointed by the slowness of the novels (especially the first few hundred pages), I find the overall story is very interesting, and I want to know what happens next.
The first half of the novel is very repetitive, a bit 'slow, and focuses intently on depression and loss. If this is not what you would like to read, you should ignore this.
I have not read many YA novels since I was a teenager myself, so it can not be the best judge of what makes a good YA novel. If you are a fan of YA novels, you'll probably love this series. Otherwise, though, you can find some 'disappointing, as I did. If you read the first book, Twilight, and liked it, it would be worthwhile to continue with New Moon.
I still read the next book, because I find the overall plot to be interesting. However, I doubt that I will be rereading these anytime soon. I also did the quality of the writing of this book to be improved as the last. In addition to the most repeated phrase "everything in my chest", in my opinion, the writing is of a quality better than the first novel.
