He offered a free domain name? Look at this Gift Horse in the mouth!

St. Jerome coined the old adage about a gift long before the Internet. Approximately 1600 years, actually. A gift must be evaluated for the spirit behind it, not its value, so as not to look too closely at the gift horse teeth. End. But you've been around long enough to know nothing is free. The old saying that applies in this case the best is the one that goes "Beware of Greeks bearing gifts," some 'of ancient wisdom that has been altered to the Internet had to say: "Beware of Geeks bearing gifts" .

If you are out to find the best deals on domain names and web hosting you will find several suppliers of these products offers you a free domain name with your hosting. Everyone wants a domain name and cheap hosting at low cost. Do you really think that the price of the domain is not taken into consideration with this package? Before you buy, see what the price would be without the domain package. If it is substantially more than the going rate for other registrars you might want to take another look at the whole package. Maybe the deal is good as it sounds ... then again, maybe not.

If after taking a sharp pencil to the deal and still looks good, keep one thing in mind. You want to be sure that the domain name will be registered in your name and company name or the person you are developing or hosting the website. Why? Because a domain name that was originally purchased for under ten dollars, can be extremely useful when coupled with a website. No matter what kind of contract you have with the developer, if the domain name is not in your name, when your business relationship with the developer goes south you'll be sorry. There is a saying older to remember: "Possession is nine points of law." It will not be held .......
