When you decide to run their business accounting, one of the biggest problems getting started is finding clients. If you're smart, you will have few customers set before you quit your regular job. But where are these customers?

The first logical place to look for customers is the family and friends. This may work for some people, but others may find that mixing business with their social life can be a nightmare. Friends and family often have higher expectations of you and feel they should pay less because of your relationship with them.

The next place I would look for customers for my business accounting is my current job. There will certainly be a number of small business owners who met through your present job. If so, contact them and tell them that you are starting your own business accounting. Let them know that you are looking for customers and that you are willing to do the work for their own accounts.

And now, the best, easiest, cheapest, most effective way to get customers to your business accounts. Word of Mouth! Yes, you read that right, word of mouth. The more people you tell about your plans, the more people will say, and so on. You may not get immediate results from this method, but somewhere along the lives of gossip there is someone or several someones who have tried your talents.
